Yum!

In case you are wondering, this is what I was looking at for a several hours yesterday afternoon.

One of the older ladies from church wondered if I wanted to come pick their green beans. She simply didn't feel like messing with them this week she said. I was more than thrilled to take her up on her offer! It took me maybe 15 to 20 minutes to pick the beans and they were beautiful ones. I got 4 quarts from them which I blanched and froze- such an easy thing to do.

We love green beans and so far since we are married I have never had to buy green beans. Someone always has extra that they don't want and offer to me. I just freeze them as I get them and then we have yummy green beans all winter long. And yes, we love eating them fresh too. One meal last summer Vince and I cleaned up probably a good 1 and 1/2 quarts by ourselves!

I also froze 20 lbs. of blueberries. We love blueberries and I can get 20 lbs. for $27 to $30 around here. I saved us some for fresh eating of course and then froze the rest. Throughout the rest of the year, I'll enjoy using them to make different baked things, blueberry pancakes or french toast, and our favorite way, still frozen blueberries mixed with frozen peaches and strawberries.

I like freezing (and canning) my own food in case you were wondering. I enjoy it and I like to know what goes into my jars, bags, or boxes. And really, once you learn how to do it, it is rather simple too.
